Varsity Color Guard

OK! So who knew that I had eye and hand coordination! But apparently I do. Back in February, I decided that I was going to try out for color guard. So last week I had the try outs. The first day we found out that there were only going to be 5 people cut. I was so excited at that news and then we started the routine! It was not as easy as it looks! I was off with my timing and everything! Then we started to dance. The dance style for flag is very graceful yet there are some very sharp moments. This was my highlight. I love to dance! :) I always have and this was were I shined and showed what I has capable of. It just came so easily to me! So on Thursday we had the clinic where we learned the routine. I went home that night reassuring myself that I still had 3 years left in which I could try out for color guard. The next day was Friday and I went back to Centennial and had tryouts. We performed in groups of 4. That meant that we would be in lines of 2 and then we would rotate from front to back. All of the girls who had made it in years past said that the front was the worst, so when the coach told me to start in the back I gladly excepted! I had the opposite. I could not pull it together, I was so nervous and the girls in front of me had not idea what they were doing! All I wanted to do was walk out and cry. Even throughout the dance section. My tourcette was off and I about fell on the ground. The entire time told my self, "next year, next year, I still have 3 years." Then I was moved to the front! I did it perfectly. I did not forget a step at all. My torcette was amazing. I was so strong in both parts (the dance and flag). After that when I walked out all I could think was maybe the second one will cover up the first time. All I could do was hope and pray! :) We didn't find out until Monday morning in school whether we made it or not and Monday was the day I started my week of helping with field day. That morning in the hectic game of doge ball in which I was Refereeing for my P.E teacher got a call from the office. I had a really bed morning and all I could think was oh boy what next . When I got to the office the secretary gave me letter that said my name on it and Centennial High school's stamp. I opened it and it was a letter and all the information for the Varsity Color Guard. I am now officially a part of the varsity Color Guard at Centennial High School!
